INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — The Textile Care Allied Trades Association (TCATA) has expanded its scholarship opportunities this year and now offers a vocational scholarship for those pursuing certifications at trade or vocational schools.
The new Vocational Scholarship offers $2,000 per year for up to two years of study at an accredited U.S. trade school or vocational program. Students must be actively studying in the semester following the scholarship award.
Considerations for this scholarship will be given to applicants who plan to work in the textile care industry after graduation, TCATA says, and who will pursue a course of study to achieve those goals. There is no obligation, however, to accept employment with a TCATA member upon graduation.
The association’s established Education Fund Scholarship provides $2,000 per year for up to four years of college education at any accredited U.S. college or university on a full-time basis. For this award, candidates will be evaluated on their academic achievements and leadership qualities. Consideration will also be given to applicants who plan to work in the textile care industry after graduation and are pursuing a course of study for that purpose.
To qualify for either award, applicants must be full-time employees, or the children or grandchildren of full-time employees, of a TCATA-member company in good standing for at least three years. The employee must have worked in a division related to the textile care industry for more than a year.
April 30 is the deadline to submit applications and required paperwork for either scholarship, with the award winners to be announced in May. Applications are available in both English and Spanish.
The application forms can be found on TCATA’s Scholarship Fund website.
